Art Rug in Premium New Zealand Wool "Entrelíneas"

About the Item

This art rug was woven by Odabashian's network of family-owned weavers near Mirzapur, India with the finest New Zealand wool. The design for the rug was created by Mexican artist Ximena Pérez Grobet for the 2011 exhibition "Tapetes, Tejiendo Historias" at the Franz Meyer Museum in Mexico City. Ximena Perez Grobet is a visual artist born in Mexico but currently residing in Barcelona. She has a BA in Industrial Design in Mexico City with graduate work at Parsons School of Design in New York City as well as the School of Visual Arts & Center for Book Arts. For this rug creation, a detailed hand-carved technique was applied to the edges of the lines in order to create a crisper look and a deeper contrast between the colors. Recipient of the JICA, Japan and Young Creators and Conaculta grants. She also designs and supervises the production of artists books for her publishing house called “Nowhere Man Press” as well as artist books for other publishers such as Carnets de Peintre in Barcelona.
