About the Item

Antique Azerbaijan runner rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool and colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Azerbaijani design featuring mixed floral and geometric details over a deep yellow field. It resembles a tribal motif which makes it a beautiful piece for decorating contemporary and rustic spaces. It has a dimension of 3’3” x 13’6” which is ideal for hallways, staircases, bedrooms, and living areas. Azerbaijani rugs are among the most prominent of Caucasian carpets and was proclaimed as a ‘Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage’ by UNESCO in 2010. As with many countries and regions with harsh climates, Azerbaijan carpet weaving started out as a cottage industry with most rugs created for personal use. The fine quality and beautiful Azerbaijan patterns soon became a source of national pride as the country became one of the major rug weaving centers in the world.
