Antique Heriz Rug 140x185 cm (4,59x6,06 ft) Middle of 20th Century Heriz Rug in Good Condition The soft curves and flowing lines of the sophisticated Tabriz medallion system are transformed into harsh, geometric angles and broken lines. Repeated patterns occur less frequently and a jagged border of vines and rosettes is characteristic. Different stages of this production and individual subvarieties have been sold in the West under specific village names. Sarāb (or Serapi), with light, rather bright color schemes; Gorevan, with darker colours; Bakshāyesh; and Mehrabān. Heriz carpets are knotted symmetrically on a cotton base.
