Effortless chic with a timeless design and pale subdued colors, this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian beautifully embodies rustic Gustavian cottage style. The lovingly time-worn concentric cut-out out field features an all-over Herati pattern. The Classic Herati design, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon’s reflection. It is enclosed with a series of borders giving it a sense of order and definition. Rendered in variegated shades of bluish-gray, beige, tan, pale cerulean, sand, gray, camel, taupe, brown, light gray, greige, ecru, and stone gray with other neutral accent colors.
