Antique 1880s Persian Fereghan Rug, 8' x 11'

About the Item

This Persian Fereghan carpet circa 1880 in handspun wool and vegetable dyes was completed using a hand-knotted pile with cotton warp and thread. Its deep navy and red medallion design is offset by an intricate border, with light blue and cream accents throughout making this a beautifully balanced piece. The weave is exceptionally fine and the carpet itself remains in exceptional condition for its age. Truly a testament to its quality and the artistry of its weaver, this carpet is a unique piece of history in the story of Persian carpet making. The size is 8'4" x 11'10". Orley Shabahang takes pride in selecting and curating the finest vintage and antique carpets, ensuring that the preservation of this ancient art form will endure for generations to come.
