Antique Persian Tehran Carpet

About the Item

Antique Tehran carpet, country of origin: Persia, circa date: 1900. Minuscule details are gorgeously presented throughout the Tehran carpet to create a vivacious tapestry of floral elements and dancing petals. Several borders frame around each other throughout the work, sewn in earthy browns, cool beiges, rich taupes and delicate creams. Within each of these borders are closely knit petals and blossoms, with the largest frame bearing an encircling row of sky blue vases that house pomegranate red flowers. The antique carpet‘s centre features rows upon rows of beautiful kraters, from which sprout bright bouquets of ruby and peach flowers. Dark vines sprawl outward from each krater to add flow and unity throughout the centre, their design creating graceful connections that lead the eye along the bountiful details. Measures: 6'7" x 10'4".

The Zil-i-Sultan (Shadow of the Sultan) design is a 19th century Persian all-over pattern of repeating vases, birds, flowers, bouquets and other decorative small elements.
