Vintage Wool 1970s Persian Lurestan Rug, Red and Yellow, 3' x 5'

About the Item

With an asymmetrical design, this traditional, semi-antique Persian Lurestan in red, gold, green, and blue wool measures 3’5” x 4’11” and belongs to Orley Shabahang’s Antique collection. This hand knotted carpet utilizes a Persian weaving technique which provides a plush pile while also producing a durable foundation making this piece ideally suited to everyday life. The carpet’s design represents a traditional Persian flower garden, with multiple flower, tree, and butterfly motifs throughout the design. Rich red and green tones build fabulous contrast with the carpet’s vibrant gold background and create more interest for the otherwise unembellished design. Surrounding the interior field is a simplistic border with flower and vine motifs. Orley Shabahang takes pride in selecting and curating the finest vintage and antique carpets, ensuring that the preservation of this ancient art form will endure for generations to come.
