19th century Silk Sivas Rug
About the Item
Rare silk Sivas, circa 1870-80. Silk pile on a cotton foundation featuring a delicate combination of floral and geometric designs with a cream center medallion with a small rosette on a rusty red field set inside a secondary green medallion with blue and yellow corners and a floral green primary border with two small guard borders. Gorgeous color. Sivas rugs are appreciated as some of the most well made and decorative rugs of the Turkish Anatolia region.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Some of the fringe is missing but aprons are in tact. Beautiful five cord gold cotton selvages.Since many of our pieces are well over 100 hundred years old, there is no way for us to detect every small expert repair that may have been previously.
