About the Item

Originating from Turkey in 1880, this antique transitional Anatolian wool rug features an uncommon floral field design and a wide variety of colorways. hand knotted in high-quality wool, the red, golden-beige, blue, white, and purple fanning leaves in the centre field are emboldened by the background of a rare interpretation of the Mihrab symbol (representing the gateway to paradise) in vibrant turquoise blue and gentle pink. The respective purple, pink, beige, and red borders host a variety of Boteh, vine scroll, tree of life, and running water symbols representing flame, the universe, eternity, and allusions to the garden of Eden; a particular theme coupled with these unique colourway combinations.
