This antique Caucasian rug was created by the Kazak tribes of the Caucasus Mountains. These nomadic carpet weaving people were often driven out of more hospitable areas and forced to make their living in a harsh environment. The antique rugs were first used as utilitarian pieces around the home. They are often smaller size rugs and have an emphasis on this use of vibrant colors and bold designs. The design of the this rare antique Caucasian Star Kazak rug is geometric and uses simple shapes. The natural surroundings of the area often inspired them. The spectacular color choice and bold patterns make this a striking and quite collectible rug.
