Oversized Antique Turkish Hereke Rug, Hotel Lobby Size Carpet

About the Item

77433 Antique Turkish Hereke Rug, 14'07 x 19'02. Reminisce of 19th century French designs and decorative elegance, this hand knotted wool antique Turkish Hereke palace rug beautifully embodies Arts & Crafts style. The architectural elements of naturalistic forms combined with Arts and Crafts style, this antique Hereke rug draws inspiration from William Morris. It features an arabesque cusped almond medallion overlaid upon a repeating floral botanical lattice pattern composed of ribbons and laurel garland wreaths. It is enclosed with a trompe l'oeil filigree cartouche border flanked with inner and outer opulent frondescence guard borders. With its intricate floral pattern, winding arrangements of garnished foliage, and captivating rinceaux embellishments, this antique Hereke rug is characterized by sensual decadence, as well as by stately action. The overall composition is distinctly reminiscent of the Arts & Crafts movement carpet designs of late nineteenth and early twentieth century England. The Arts & Crafts movement celebrated craftsmanship and simple, informal folk styles of decoration. Leading designers of the movement, such as William Morris and C.F.A. Voysey, embraced hand-knotted rug making and crafted high-quality woven textiles in contrast to the overly decorative manufactured goods popular at the time. With vibrant, warm colors and well-balanced symmetry, this antique Turkish rug would bring a sense of vivacity and sophistication to nearly any space. This piece would be a wonderful addition to any interior especially one inspired by the Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau or Prairie School movements. Well-suited for a wide range of interior styles: Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Prairie School, Craftsman, Biophilic Design, Traditional, Transitional, Eclectic, Modern, Contemporary, Industrial, Rustic, Lodge, Cabin, Cottage, Bungalow, Manor House, Tudor, Edwardian, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Mediterranean, Cottage, and English Country. Rendered in variegated shades of beige, rose, celadon, mauve, robin's egg blue, glaucous, brass, olive, pale mint, taupe, sand, light gray, red, ecru, brown, and tan with other accent colors.
