A breathtaking decorative tribal design antique Turkish Oushak rug, country of origin / rug type: antique Turkish rugs, date: circa 1900. Size: 8 ft 3 in x 10 ft 9 in (2.51 m x 3.28 m) One of the best qualities of this antique Turkish Oushak carpet is the beautiful soft and decorative color combination. This soothing antique Turkish carpet was created around 1900 and is of a fine weave that allowed the artist to carry out the design in exquisite detail. It also creates a soft and supple texture. Oushak has been a center of carpet production since the late 15th century. The magnificent antique carpets of the area are coarser in weave, but have a soft plush texture. It is more typical of those that were commissioned for the Ottoman Courts or noblemen. The extremely decorative rugs of the area typically incorporate only a few colors, but the color combinations set them apart from carpets produced in other areas of the region. This one uses orange, salmons, browns, and ivory arranged to create a striking design, yet blends together beautifully.
