Fantastic and Massive Sivas "Jijim" Rug

About the Item

Massive Sivas "Jijim" rug. A very impressive example of Anatolian tribal art, this is a "pardah," a curtain or tent divider that hung sideways in the home of the weaver. It is not hard to imagine a tribal chief proudly sitting in front of it while receiving his guests. Woven in seven narrow panels but conceived as a whole, with finely detailed "jijim" brocading, this is the largest of its kind that we have ever seen. In excellent state of preservation.
