About the Item

The light terracotta-red field with angular serrated leaf vine around an ivory lozenge medallion issuing large bold ivory and light blue palmettes, surround by part similar palmettes, in a broad ivory border of light terracotta-red and sandy-yellow serrated leaf and palmette vines between ivory floral vine stripes, outer plain light terracotta-stripe. Oushak (or Ushak) rugs originate from the small town of Oushak in west-central Anatolia, which is located just south of modern-day Istanbul, Turkey. Oushak has been a center of production for Turkish rugs since the beginning of the Ottoman Empire. Oushak rugs are highly collectable and compliment a variety of elegant room settings.
