This hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak runner features two large stepped hexagonal medallions with interior latch-hooks and earring motifs. A variety of flowers and traditional Anatolian symbols, including amulets, crosses and diamonds, are spread throughout the field. Earrings, a common wedding present in Anatolia, represent marriage. Amulets and diamonds are both used to protect against evil. Simple barber’s pole guard borders offset a large graphic main border composed of dragon motifs and rosettes. The dragon motif represents the mythical creature believed to be the guardian of treasure. With its vibrant color palette and bold design containing a variety of symbols, this vintage Oushak runner would be a striking addition to nearly any space.
