About the Item

Hand knotted in wool originating from Turkey circa 1950-1960, this vintage Oushak rug enjoys a distinctively appealing, rich red colorway with a subtle pink accent, a warmer variation of this celebrated hue lending a warm complement to the rich brown, gold, and black hues prevailing in the classic geometry. The very 19th century style geometric floral pattern further enjoys a muted gray-blue tint, bringing out a subtle juxtaposition in play with the richer, more regal hues that exemplifies a control and offers a sense of movement in the grand symmetry of this piece; a slightly more versatile 8x10 rug than traditional rugs of this venerated family have known, connoting the variations that began to emerge in this period. Connoisseurs and designers alike will note the tasteful abrash prevailing in the red of the field and border alike, very naturally uplifting the bold, defined array of curvilinear and rectilinear motifs throughout the field and meandering borders in kind; a welcomed addition to the Antique & Vintage rug collection from Rug & Kilim.
