Vintage Turkish Silk Hereke

About

This fine silk Hereke rug bearing the Hereke mark is an artistic interpretation of early 17th century Ottoman Turkish court rugs. The blue mihrab with palmettes and curving Saz leaves and the quarter medallions at the lower corners is in a Classic pattern. The palmettes in the border are accented with silver metal brocading as are selected palmettes in the field. The indigo blue field is particularly saturated and set off the decoration. The knot count is very high at 400 psi. All the Hereke rugs in our inventory were made by different weavers as is indicated by their varying styles of execution and knotting.
