Antique French Savonnerie Carpet, Red Field

About the Item

The madder red field features an allover pattern of laurel wreaths surrounding either complex rosettes or leaf and star arrays. The burnt apricot and camel border displays tight floral wreathes dangling from a leafy double vine with cloud ribbons interspersed. An outer border of X's adds a formal touch to a Romantic version of Neo- Classic pattern.
