Antique Ivory French Art Deco Carpet

About the Item

An outstanding Art Deco carpet distinguished by an ivory background decorated by a large scale floral pattern drawn with intricate detail. Many Art Deco artists took patterns such as this one, which began to appear already during the Art Nouveau period, and enlarged the proportions giving an almost surreal character to the floral element. It is rare to find an early French example such as this one, certainly a precursor to the plethora of Art Deco carpets woven in China during later years.
