Large 19hC French Aubusson Carpet in Flowery and Leafy Tropical Hues
About the Item
A magnificent Napoleon III Aubusson weave carpet having an unusual colour palette including two outer borders in pinks, reds, dark green, and an inner field in olive green with a central medallion of flowers and swirling borders. The carpet features large palm fronds, passion flowers, and other tropical vegetation in the design and was possibly custom woven for a client living in the tropics. The carpet was recently cleaned and had minor restorations performed in Istanbul, Turkey. In superb condition.
