18th C. Pair of Italian Neoclassical Paint Decorated Armchairs
About the Item
Grand Pair of 18th Century Italian Neoclassical Paint Decorated Armchairs. These gracefully designed chairs are supported by two tapered square back legs and two carved rosettes above two tapered oval front legs having carved bellflower Icicles with fluted feet. The curved seat rail has a frieze with carved rosette flanked horizontal bellflowers. The foliage S-curved arms come up to a deep scrolled hand rest with a dramatic curved arm rest having carved bellowers. The upholstery back has rectangle frame with carved rosettes and bellflowers. The classical decorations with geometric and floral elements along with the tricolor finish represent the Neoclassical Style in its best form.
