About the Item

An important collectible walnut handcrafted armchair from the Italian 1950's mid-century period designed by Franco Cavatorta and labeled at the back by his family business Silvio Cavatorta. This comfortable piece is highlighted by its excellent craftsmanship with spayed and tapered legs. Italy. Circa 1950's In meticulously restored condition at our atelier. About the designer: The family company Cavatorta was established in Rome in 1869 by Eugenio Cavatorta. It produced its furniture only in small and exclusive series, its main customers being embassies, hotels, schools and ships. Each furniture fitting was designed uniquely for each specific commission. During the 1930’s, led by Eugenio’s son Silvio, the company started to obtain prestigious commissions for international organizations and ministries. Due to these unique commissions, the family-company’s craft and material oriented style of production combined with a cosmopolitan interest stretching beyond Italian design, Cavatorta’s furniture remains unique, rare and of a very high quality, aesthetically as well as in its construction. All our pieces are expertly restored at our atelier and we only offer items that will last another lifetime. Our workspace includes a luminous gallery, a restoration atelier where our team of experts in metalwork, woodwork, upholstery, and electrics; restore each piece with the mission to honor a balance between restoration and preservation. There may be natural light age-related wear but never any hard damages or structural issues.? Since the launch of our gallery in late 2017, we have exported over 1100 items to buyers in 21 countries located in all four corners of the world from Europe and North America to Asia and Australia. In the United States alone, we have ensured the delivery of over 650 pieces of all sizes (from big dining tables to small decorative objects) in 23 states. We take the utmost attention to our packaging by building robust made-to-measure boxes in our atelier with the aim of providing safe and cost-effective delivery prices for every client. Most deliveries arrive smoothly in less than 8 days. FYI the Morocco Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA) went into effect on January 1, 2006.
