19th Century, Pair of French Empire Style Wood Armchairs

About the Item

19th century, Pair of French Empire style Wood Armchairs This delightful pair of wood armchairs was made in France in the nineteenth century in the Empire style. The plant is straight, the rear legs are slightly arched outwards, while the front are decorated with anthropomorphic figures lacquered and gilded bronze simulation. Very decorative, they seem inspired by the models of the famous cabinetmaker François-Honoré-Georges Jacob-Desmalter (1770-1841), active in Paris between 1796 and 1825. Many of his artefacts are now on display at the Louvre, the Château de Compiègne and the Sénat français. The armchairs, upholstered in green fabric with classic decorations, can be used in different environments; very beautiful in a living room or in a study, they can also be placed in entrances or individually in bathrooms and bedrooms. The armchairs, in good condition, need a restoration of the upholstery of the seat.
