Carlo Mollino, Brass and Velvet Armchair from the RAI Auditorium, Italy, c. 1951

$18,000

About

Extremely rare and exceptional brass and velvet armchair by Carlo Mollino, Turin, Italy, c. 1951. This armchair was originally made for the important Radio Audizioni Italiane (RAI) Auditorium in Turin, a historic commission for acclaimed architect and designer Carlo Mollino. Highly collectible, the armchair perfectly showcases the sinuous lines, exquisite craftsmanship, sumptuous materials, and elegant composition of Mollino's work - all signature trademarks of his celebrated design oeuvre. Original theater seat number is still affixed to the chair. The final image in the slideshow pictures the armchair in-situ at the RAI Auditorium for which it was originally designed.
