Danish Mid-Century Modern Spindle-Back Armchair “No. 8” by Helge Sibast

$995

About

Designed by Helge Sibast in 1953, the Sibast No. 8 exhibits a distinctly original scissor form with a cantilevered seat; the steam bent laminated armchair curves around the sitter, supported over a series of tapered spindles that continue below the seat into the rear stretcher. The front arms taper into pegs that support the front edges of the crest rail, these formed of beautiful sculpted teak, the front leg tenoned neatly into the rear leg at the joint with the seat bar. Three bolts run through the seat bar and lock the projecting seat into the frame. The seat is covered in a plush blue velour. The surfaces are beautifully patinated. This chair is being sold individually. Measurements: 28 7/8” H x 21 1/2” W x 20 1/2” D, 17 1/4” H to seat.
