  • Grand Repos Lounge Chair and Pachina Ottoman by Antonio Citterio, Ivory, Vitra
    By Vitra, Antonio Citterio
    Located in Brooklyn, NY
Developing a new chair for Vitra in the wake of a masterpiece like the Eames Lounge Chair was a unique Challenge. Antonio Citterio's Grand Repos stands in the tradition of the Classic lounge chair, but develops this concept further to reach a new level. The swivel-based lounge chair Grand Repos offers unparalleled comfort with generous padding, inviting armrests and synchronised mechanism concealed beneath the upholstery. The chairs allow the sitter to move from an upright position to a reclined angle for resting, locking the backrest in any position. The resistance of the backrest can be manually adjusted to the user's weight. A synchronized mechanism concealed beneath the upholstery of the Grand Repos wing chair ensures continual back support at every angle of inclination and can be locked in position. This relaxing feature is enhanced by attractive, rounded contours for utmost comfort. The Italian designer and architect Antonio Citterio knows how to combine timeless elegance with unsurpassed comfort. He has worked with Vitra regularly for around 25 years and during this time has created a variety of designs – including several pioneering office chairs. After many years of experience in creating dynamic and healthy seating, he has now applied his expertise to the private living area, with Grand Repos as his premiere piece. This set includes the Grand Repos chair...
