About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare fully restored Victorian armchair This armchair has been fully restored with no expense spared, the history of the chair is as follows. It arrived in my warehouse earlier this year and was without questions the most comfortable armchair I have ever sat in, the condition was okay for the period but the arms had play as did the back, I commissioned a third generation cabinet maker who had an in house upholster trained in the traditional methods of upholstery to restore the chair for me, they have stripped the chair back to the base frame, removed old repairs and made new joints and spliced in reclaimed vintage timber so the frame is rock solid, the chair was basically sitting on the ground so they have fitted reclaimed Victorian front and back legs to raise it up, then using all the original chair platform and as much of the original padding as possible they have rebuilt the chair, they have added in new padding on top to get it size wise to where it’s supposed to be. The chair has then been upholstered using plain russet 100% English premium cattle hide leather, it was antique studded all over using 100% brass antique studs, the chair was then hand polished this stunning Whiskey brown colour by our leather polishers All in all you have an absolute one of a kind Victorian armchair in the best possible condition The plan from day 1 was for me to keep the chair hence the no expense spared restoration, sadly by them repairing the chair its now allot and fuller and narrower in the back, as such my back doesn’t fit in it anymore, it breaks my heart to list it for sale but I’m just too big for it, the padding will soften with time and with a cushion its very very comfortable but for me it’s just to small back there, length wise its fine Dimensions Height:- 82.5cm Width:- 82.75cm Depth:- 114cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point.
