Elegant pair of Italian 1950s lounge / wingback / armchairs by Paolo Buffa. These sculptural elegant and large chairs are very comfortable; They have a similar line as Gio Ponti Armchairs and the profile to the senior chairs by Marco Zanuso. Original fabric in pink-coral velvet in excellent condition, which we have sanitized. Legs in iron chromed and black painted with screw for height adjustment. The Italian architect-designer Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) was active between the 1930s and 1960s. It is known for a series of furniture designs that combine neoclassical and art deco motifs with modernist principles. His pieces rarely include identifying marks, making them difficult to authenticate. Born and raised in Milan, Buffa studied architecture at the famous Polytechnic of the city, graduating in 1927.
