Louis XV Armchair Owned by Elsa Schiaparelli

$15,000Asking Price

About

This fine 18th century armchair belonged to Elsa Schiaparelli, the fashion designer who was celebrated for her surrealist creations, and patronage of Salvador Dali and Jean Cocteau. The new silk-satin upholstery is in her signature color Shocking Pink. The Rococo frame is unusual for the cut away arms, which would accommodate a sitter's sword, indicating it was made for a man in the military, and a member of what the French call the "noblesse d'épée."
