About the Item

This Mid-Century Modern 'Audrey' S12 is a comfortable light-weight armchair designed by Peter Ghyczy in 2017 and hand-crafted in the Ghyczy atelier in the South of the Netherlands. Since coming on the market in 2017 the 'Audrey' S12 has remained a leading Ghyczy design, as it also was exhibited at the 2018 Biennale Architettura in Venice. The chair’s playful construction consists of Minimalist lacquered oakwood rods and metal charcoal tubing, made possible by a unique screw joinery. The frame is black powder coated. Details are aluminium. The armchair is upholstered with a fabric from DEDAR Milano. The backrest can be adjusted to the preferences of its owner. The armchair consists of two identical u-shaped tubes, and as a result it is easy to produce the chair in series, reducing waste production. The upholstered white bouclé cushions offer the armchair a versatile and refined aesthetic. The 'Audrey' S12 armchair is available in different materials and finishes, and can be tailor-made to the requirements of the client. The 'Audrey' S12 armchair can also be made-to-order as an outdoor version. Ghyczy aims to establish a relational dynamic between local craftsmanship and durable materiality. Driven by our aversion to throwaway culture within our current contextual setting, our locally based production processes have led us to design and manufacture long-lasting furniture. For the past 50 years we have dedicated time and attention in making timeless and sophisticated furniture accessible. .
