Pair Antique French Louis XVI Painted Armchairs, Fauteuils
About the Item
Pair Antique French Louis XVI painted armchairs ~ Fauteuils represent the classical interpretation of the design! Oval, contoured seatbacks and generously proportioned seats provide unusual comfort, with the frames enveloping the luxurious damascene fabric with carved spiral ribbon, acanthus leaf and a bow at the top crown. Four tapered and fluted legs provide support, with rosettes accenting the plinth between the legs and armrest supports. The exquisite fabric, which includes padded armrests, has been recently professionally installed, which was done before we found the pair. The fully carved frame has been painted which has acquired a lovely patina over the decades, producing an overall effect that is truly visually charming and undoubtedly timeless!
