Pair of 19th Century Chinese Official's Hat Chairs

About the Item

19th century Chinese Official chair. Elmwood, original red and black lacquer. Back splat with vague remains of decorations (natural wear and tear). Carved scalloped aprons below the seat Named "Official's Hat Chair" as the chair mimics the brimmed hats of government workers in the curved head rail. From the Jiangsu province, China circa 1840. Sold as a pair.
