About the Item

A strikingly impressive pair of sculptural pod armchairs in lovely vintage condition. This super-stylish pair would suite a variety of interior styles, could be used inside or outdoors and will add lovely two-tone colouring and a superbly Mediterranean-Organic, Coastal aesthetic to any setting. These wonderful armchairs are impressively sized and surprisingly heavy. Made by design supremo Sir Terence Conran’s company Habitat, likely in the 1980s and inspired by Italian Modernist designs, these stunning chairs create a real statement with their Designer-Boho quality and organically curvaceous, sculptural lines. Hand-crafted from meticulously stacked pencil-reed rattan, forming an organically-shaped and ergonomic pod with generously sized seats and wide, enveloping arms, they have the original black leather seat cushions, which provide padded comfort and juxtapose wonderfully against the light-toned, blonde rattan. All in all these are a super pair of strikingly attractive pod chairs, which would suit a variety of interiors and exteriors and won’t fail to impress in any setting. Photographed here with an octagonal light-oak Arts & Crafts coffee table. CONDITION This fabulous pair are in good vintage condition. Solid, structurally sound and reassuringly heavy, they have only to-be-expected signs of ageing, which adds to their vintage appeal, including sun-blanching and very minor losses to the rattan and a few marks and one scratch to the original leather seat cushions, which have been treated to keep them rejuvenated. Overall they’re a gorgeous and eye-catching pair in lovely vintage condition and if well looked after they should be just as stunning for decades to come – please see the photos.
