Pair of English George III 1730s Stamped Burl Walnut Armchairs with Eagle Heads

About the Item

A pair of English George III period burl walnut armchairs from the first half of the 18th century, with stamped initials, carved splats, eagle motifs, cabriole legs and claw-and-ball feet. Each of this pair of English armchairs features a delicately pierced back with central carved splat, connected to two splaying arms adorned with imposing eagles' heads on their knuckles. The back rails are stamped with initials. Each seat is recovered with a suede upholstery, whose warm color highlights the richness of the burl wood beautifully. Each chair is raised on four legs, the front ones being cabriole with carved shells on the knees, while the back ones are slightly splayed in order to provide additional stability to the chair. The front legs are resting on claw-and-ball feet, that add to the majesty of the chairs. With their graceful Rococo silhouettes and their lovely patina, this pair of English George III period 1730s armchairs will bring a refined touch to any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or office.
