Pair of High Back Armchairs in Green Braquenié Velvet and Wengé Wood, 1950s

About the Item

This rare pair high back armchairs were custom designed for a municipal building in Utrecht, The Netherlands in the early 1950s. The generously sized dimensions and very high back make this a striking, distinctive design. The legs and armrests are in solid wengé wood. The chairs have been fully reconditioned and newly upholstered in a beautiful green velvet by Braquenié / Pierre Frey. The 'Zao' velvet has a scale motif, finished with a delicate metallic thread that highlights the design.
