Fabulous pair of Louis XV beechwood Fautueils à la Reine. Made by Pierre Leduc, circa 1750s. These chairs were in the NYC home of Greta Garbo in the star's living room! Each chair backseat displays a berried fruit-and foliate-carved cresting, the loose-cushioned, classic serpentine seat has padded arm rests, both upholstered with a raspberry colored, silk checked-pattern, fabric. Each back rail stamped Leduc. Pierre Leduc, maître in 1745. Specific measurements: Height of backrest 38 inches (96.5 cm), width of backrest 22 inches (55.8 cm), height of seat (without cushion) 16 inches (40.7 cm), height of seat (with cushion) 22 inches (55.8 cm), width of seat overall 26 inches (66 cm), depth of seat 21 inches (53.3 cm). Provenance: Estate of Greta Garbo.
