"Palace" Chair by George Sowden

About the Item

Designed for the 3rd Memphis exhibition by George Sowden (UK), it is a melding of his memories of British Arts & Guilds (Macintosh, etc.) and a rectilinear homage to Gerrit Rietveld & De Stijl. Every element of the palace chair intensifies its rectilinear layout, with intense color and simple forms. However, its comfort is pleasantly surprising and it functions equally well as a dining or side chair. The palace chair is often depicted in the designer George Sowden's architectonic drawings of interiors as his own iconic object! A classic Sowden design. The option of tying Memphis fabric cushions on to the seat exists (please inquire).
