Shadow Armchair by Gaetano Pesce for Meritalia, Postmodern Icon

About the Item

Shadow armchair by Gaetano Pesce for Meritalia is a highly collectible iconic masterpiece of Post Modern Design. The chair "deconstructed". Designed and made in limited numbers in 2007, it is already a highly coveted and rare classic with rapidly escalating auction results. Formed from pouring polyurethane resin into the bag-like vinyl upholstery it then sets and hardens around the negative space of a person sitting. Thus creating a comfortable, natural seating element and a chair in which every unit is unique in form from the variables in resin setting. These examples are upholstered in an absolutely stunning high gloss lime green latex-like material with leather accents. Works excellently in pre-war classical style interiors, parquetry floors etc. as well as industrial and modern homes and offices. Two chairs available as pictured (more pictures available on request). Measurements as follows: Chair #111: Height: 52 in (132 cm) Width: 41 in (104 cm) Depth: 38 in (96 cm) Seat height: 17 in (42 cm) Chair #170: Height: 48 in (122 cm) Width: 41 in (104 cm) Depth: 35 in (90 cm) Seat height: 17 in (42 cm) In some literature, this chair is considered a Postmodern evolution of the Togo by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset. Ask about the options at our atelier. Curved ‘Onda’ lounge chairs by Jonathan de Pas, Donato D'urbino and Paolo Lomazzi. The piece was designed for Zanotta in 1985. The expressive curve of the chairs is emphasized by the vibrant color of the blue leather. The structured and bend tubular chrome makes the piece look nice in a freestanding place. Because of the soft leather, the chair is comfortable to sit in. The leather armchair wrapped in a polished frame contributes to the chair's expressive and vigorous appearance. Jonathan de Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi are three Milanese designers, born in the 1930s. Around 1960, they started working together.
