Set of six extremely rare Willy Rizzo carver dining chairs finished in cognac leather with stainless steel frames. The carver variant of the Rizzo dining chair is extremely rare, six variants of Rizzo dining chairs were produced but only one with armrests, please see photo provided courtesy of the Willy Rizzo archive which illustrates the six variants that were produced in 1970, please see image 4.
These six chairs have been reupholstered in real cognac leather, they which were originally upholstered in red suede which had badly deteriorated, we have removed the Willy Rizzo signatures from the original suede fabric and have sewn them to the underside of the chairs to maintain the provenance, please see image 10.
We also saved photos of the original set prior to renovation in order to keep an ongoing provenance.
Willy Rizzo was an important 20th century celebrity photographer and furniture designer ,
Please see image 2 illustrating photo's taken by WIlly Rizzo of Salvador Dali in 1950 and Brigitte Bardot in 1958.
