"Zarina Baby" Fabric Little Armchair Designed by Cesare Cassina, Adele-C

"Zarina Baby" is an iconic little armchair, originally designed by Cesare Cassina for his daughter Adele and now re-edited and manufactured by Adele-C, featuring a wooden frame with polyurethane padding in differing densities, crushproof goose-feather cushion seat with a polyurethane insert, available in different fabric covers. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 22.8", W. 22", H. 25.2", Seat H. 15.7" Adele Cassina said about "Zarina Baby": "The priceless gift that my father made for me with his own hands when I was a child has become a beloved inheritance and the icon of my work" "Zarina Baby" is a soft and embracing little armchair, a prototype of seating beyond time and design. Cesare Cassina designed it for his daughter Adele. Design pioneer during 1950s, Cesare Cassina created this armchair during winter in 1944 and gave it to his daughter as a Christmas gift. After Adele has grown up and established her design company with the same name, she exactly re-edited Zarina mini-sized version armchair which Cesare made with his own hands for her. Keeping exactly the dimensions of the original version, she covered it with different fabric color-matchings. CESARE CASSINA (Meda, 1909-1979) was a Pioneer of Italian design in the furniture industry, an enlightened entrepreneur and a recognized international leader in the production of chairs, armchairs and sofas. In 1927, along with his brother Umberto, he established a Craft furniture manufacturer, which gained a great prestige over time thanks to the cooperation of well-known Italian architects and designers such as Gio' Ponti, Carlo and Tobia Scarpa, Marco Zanuso, Franco Albini and Vico Magistretti. In 1965 he began to realize the Collection of Masters with a huge success, acquiring the rights for iconic pieces co-designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. This collection was widened later in 1968 with the acquisition from the Berlin based Bauhaus-Archiv of the reproduction rights for some of the Bauhaus objects. In 1971-72 pieces of design by Gerrit Rietveld, Frank Lloyd Wright and Charles Rennie Mackintosh were added. The Collection of Masters continued in 1983 with the re-edition of furniture by Erik Gunner Asplund, later the acquisition from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation of rights of reproduction (1986) of furniture by the American architect came, including the Barrel chair (1937), and, finally, in 2004 also furniture by Charlotte Perriand was included. In 1972 the very influential exhibition at New York MoMA, called "Italy: the New Domestic Landscape", curated by Emilio Ambasz, was co-sponsored by Cassina. ADELE-C collection, including and extending the legacy of the well-known Cassina brand, consists of pieces of design indifferent to passing fads and ready to show new paths for interior design. Adele-C collection is typically ready to naturally adapt to any space, as its sobriety in style and quality of materials are simply perfect to enrich any room in a refined way.
