Early 18th Century Paneled Bench

About the Item

Early 18th century oak bench from England with a highly carved back which has four raised panels, all with floral decoration, flanked with more decorative carvings. The arms are shaped and rest on hand turned supports. The seat is made from two planks, and has a beveled edge on the front and pie crust edges on either side. This is over the apron, which has wonderfully hand carved designs as well. The legs are shaped and are hand carved in a fish scale pattern in the front, and are joined to the simple back legs by stretchers. This is a work of art and would be a wonderful additional to any fine house. The seat height measures 18.25 inches high.
