Italian Wooden Bench with Upholstered Seat, 1970s

About the Item

Decorative Italian vintage bench consists of two elements, an upholstered seat that floats on a beautiful solid wood frame. The entire wooden structure, despite the tapered legs, provides excellent stability and support. The attractively visual wooden base contrasts with the light fabric of the seat. In excellent condition, after renovation. The seat of the bench was reupholstered with a high-quality Hase Ervin wool and cotton blend from England.     Set of eight consisting of very rare pair of 'Fumay' chairs with upholstered rest, and six standard 'Fumay' armchairs designed in 1965 by the world-famous French duo, Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron. This solid oak “Fumay” set of dinning armchairs are considered as a reference among furniture from the 1950s to the 1970s. This dining armchairs perfectly explains why, through proportions, unique concepts and the quality of woodworking at the highest level, the French duo created timeless furniture. These chairs show beautiful lines, from Guillerme and Chambron's signature tapered legs to the armrests, which are carved from light oak with the utmost care. This armchair model is made with attention to detail and extremely comfortable. This version of the 'Fumay' model with armrests is distinguished by interesting curves and the highest craftmanship, characteristic of the Guillerme & Chambron duo. The genius of the project lies in the details and uniqueness of the structure, such as stretchers between the legs placed at different heights in the front and on the sides.     'Djinn' easy chair and ottoman by Olivier Mourgue for Airborne International, France, 1964-1965. Made of a tubular steel frame with rubber singles, foam and woolen fabric. The set is after fully renovation with the original specifications with use of the highest quality foam and rubber. It is again upholstered in a luxurious woolen "plush" fabric from Belgium. The chair stands on stainless steel slides to protect the chair and fabric. In excellent condition. Both are original pieces from the 1960s. This set is the same as the red chairs used in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick. Those pieces are a part of Center de Pompidou and the New York's MoMA collection. This epic set of modernism from the Mid-20th Century is as beautiful as it is comfortable and will surely become a delightful piece of furniture in your home.
