Laredo Bench Contemporary Design Traditional Joinery, Hardwood w/ Lacquer Finish

About the Item

Influences from Mexico, Japan and Stickley are combined in this contemporary bench using traditional mortise and tenon joinery and solid Rosa Morada hardwood. First made by the designer in the Laredo, Texas studio in 1994, they are now made to order in Guadalajara, Mexico. This sculptural bench is comfortable and ergonomically supports the body in all the right places above an eighteen-inch seat. These are signed editions, located on underside of seat. Rosa Morada trees grow from central Mexico down through tropical Central America and are sustainably harvested by permit. The lumber is kiln dried to 10%. Laredo bench, measures: 57 WIDE x 27 DEEP x 32 HIGH, Rosa Morada wood with candy clear plum lacquer and wax topcoat. Bio: Peter Glassford was born in Texas where he graduated with a degree in Sculpture from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently he lives in Guadalajara, Mexico with his wife Isabel Moncada, a lighting designer. Together, they founded Glassford Moncada a multidisciplinary studio producing artwork, lighting, furniture as well as jewelry.
