‘Willow’ Armchair Designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh by Cassina

About the Item

The ‘Willow’ armchair designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the ‘Willow Tea Room’, Glasgow 1904. This masterful modern armchair is an expert re-edition by Cassina. In its original configuration, the high, semicircular backrest of this solid wood throne served as a divider between the entrance and the tea room behind it, framing the seat in a complex series of lines and shapes that wholly reflect the geometric and floral style of Mackintosh. A work of superior Cassina craftsmanship, made possible by the fusion of Fine furniture-making and cutting-edge technology. An object of the utmost artisanal precision with extremely complex work processes, like the hand-assembly of the various components of the structure.
