19th Century Painted Maple Hitchcock Chair

About

Early American chair from Connecticut decorated with gold stencil in a grape vine motif with red painted accents. In original condition with notched rush seat surrounded by steam bent seat rail. A commemorative metal plaque has been added to the back: John Coolidge 1796- Watertown- 1878. His wife Mary S. Bond Coolidge 1800, Watertown, 1885.
