  • Pair of Bespoke Leather, Club Armchairs, 'The Dutchman', Chairs by London Fine
    Located in Hele, Devon, GB
Our Stock # 18.7480 Presenting a superior, bespoke pair of club armchairs, handmade in England. The Dutchman by London Fine, a deep-seated, traditional club chair, so named for its relaxed, long profile. Drawing upon London Fine's extensive knowledge and experience in traditional antique furniture, The Dutchman is the first in a new portfolio representing a renaissance of true artisan, traditionally inspired furniture. Engaging some of the most talented craftsmen, selecting the finest materials and utilising no expense spared, traditional principles of the highest order, The Dutchman delivers a new standard in the vanguard of luxury furniture. Conceived from the desire to create an uncompromised classic, the conceptual idea leant itself perfectly to the creation of a chair, handcrafted to offer the last word in refined relaxation. Using traditional techniques and an eye for exacting detail, this is an inviting opportunity to grace the home with a pair of distinctive, luxuriant chairs upholstered in superior aniline hides, that will last several lifetimes. The select tulipwood frame, sourced from 25 year sustainable stocks, benefits from pegged and bonded joints to offer a desirably robust structure – a testament to the pursuit of quality, right down to the very core of the chair. The serpentine arms and bellied seat-rail express their form from deep within the sumptuous layers of cushioning. Eschewing the throwaway modern trend for stapled seams, here, only traditional, individual, stud nailing will suffice. Inspired by Georgian and Victorian hand-craftsmanship, the frame is the skeleton for profusely webbed and deeply sprung upholstery offering luxurious comfort. Layered in four sections, the deeply stuffed cushioning, with a thoughtful balance of feather and down, offers an invitation to relax. Of the finest quality, the aniline, Highland Chianti hide is a visual and tactile delight. The leather is hand padded, sealed and tanned, accentuating the sinuous form with a finish that will only improve with age and use. Each chair raised upon American, black walnut, tapering legs, splayed at the rear featuring chamfered inner corners and riding smoothly upon high quality, antiqued castors...
