About the Item

Made-to-order, 12 weeks. We made these four grey leather PT40 chairs to combine with a couple pink leather chairs to use as dining tables around a bleached antique wood table top we made for an interior designer's light beach house project. We must say this colour combination was quite easy on the eye. Model: PT40-BS1-Buffed and Oiled - Grey Seat: Leather Seat color: Pigeon Base: PT40, sand cast brass Base Danish: Golden sand Dimensions: 52 x 50 x 78 cm; seat height 46 cm (W x D x H) 20.5 x 19.7 x 30.71 inch; seat height 18.1 inch This is a version pf our PT40 chair in hand-cast brass with a Golden Sand brass base and with a seat in Blue Leather. We have added some new leather colors for our chair collection! We left the leather quite natural and treated the surface with saddle oil. This means the chair will ‘age with grace’, a rich patina will develop over the years. Additional info: P. Tendercool chairs and stools Handmade, available to your order Belgians Pieter Compernol, Stephanie Grusenmeyer and Austrian Florian Gypser designed this Chair. You might notice similarities with Paul Kjaerholm's PK9 tulip chair. No wonder, he is one of our favourite designers. We were naturally inspired by our very own PT2 table base as well. The chair's base is sand-cast by hand in either Brass or Bronze by Italian Bronze-master Armando and his Team. Armando is hitting 80 and is Truly Old School: he even used to work for Salvador Dali!! He is the best possible, and still very much living proof that when we live our passions we stay young! A Sand-cast chair-base in Olden Day Techniques, but still very effective. In contrast, the chair's shell is cutting-edge and high-tech: 3D-moulded plywood allows a super-thin, super-strong, yet very elastic shell. Like a bicycle saddle, this seat follows your every lateral move and the pre-curved back offers great comfort and support. However, this flexibility of the shell caused many sleepless nights as we couldn't find a perfect way to wrap it with leather just gluing wouldn't work, the leather would come loose after a few sit-sessions! After one year of trials - and many, many errors - we found a tiny specialized leather workshop which normally stitches leather around steering wheels of luxury cars. We finally solved our problem: they managed to give our chairs our much coveted base-ball-like second skin. Lead-time 12 weeks This chair model is available to order in either dining-table height, counter-height, and bar-height. Important notes: Three legs, not four or five Our chairs have only three legs, like all other three-legged chairs they need some getting used to. We naturally tested our chairs extensively and they are perfectly balanced and perfectly strong. However, we'd advise not to Stand on them, finding your balance standing-up might be challenging on 3-legged chairs. P. Tendercool's chairs are chairs, not ladders.
