About the Item
Indicative of the designer's anomalous creative approach, this one of a kind sculptural chair ('Prima') is a prominent design piece. Handcrafted in stucco marmo (scagliola), the method resembles sculpture making, using steel armature and multiple layers of composites in black and white. The laborious process takes multiple stages of sanding, polishing and filling, resulting in a beautiful smooth stone mat finish that gives the piece its organic appearance. The marbleising process reveals a range of shapes and forms that accidentally emerge from the veining, looking like black and white drawings.
Whilst it is possible to sit on, the predominant purpose of ‘Prima’ sculptural chair is to act as a design piece. Certainly, it is deserving of its own merit. A one of a kind piece that would look great in any setting.

Rinat Design is a multi disciplinary Art and Design studio established in London in 2010. The scope of works is wide ranging, from lighting, furniture, decorative objects to art pieces and sculptures. All works are entirely hand crafted in a wide array of materials; Bronze, Stainless steel, Wood, Jesmonite, Resin and also Scagliola, a labour intensive renaissance-era method extensively used at Rinat Design studio for creating one of a kind contemporary pieces. Rinat Design has worked with interior designers, galleries and private clients worldwide. All pieces are custom made to suit any type of project, commercial or residential.
