About

Extraordinary pair of late Art Deco / early Funkis/functionalist chairs in mahogany with nickel edging and sabots, crafted by Bodafors AB. Sweden, circa 1930. Each with metal tag “AB Svenska Mobelfabrikerna Bodafors"

The nickel framing appears to have been cast, speaking to a very precise level of execution. Their quality and originality suggest they were custom commissioned by an architect or designer. The nickel framing catches light, appearing as if a drawing of the chair, and thus speaking to Surrealist trends in the decorative arts in the 1930s.
