Organic Modern Dining Chair. Created by Loose Fit and handmade to order in the UK. Available in a choice of three timbers - English Oak, Ash or London Plane.
Simple Dining Chair in London Plane wood. Delicate in appearance yet comfortable and durable enough for everyday use.
This chair is available in three types of timber - solid Oak, olive Ash or London Plane. See separate listings for examples.
Choose Oak for a classic warm colour, olive Ash for a lighter wood, or London Plane for unique figured wood with rich colouring and unusual grain.
Select one timber for a matching dining set, or mix different timbers for a combination of unique and individual pieces.
These understated and elegant dining chairs feature the subtle use of hand cut dovetail and bridle joints to form the simplicity and rigidity of the frame. They have a solid wood seat which shows off the prime timber of their construction.
The design has a modern, square frame which creates clean lines and makes them lightweight even though they are made from solid timber.
The chair is finished in a hard wax oil, which gives it a satin sheen and brings out the grain of the wood.
As every tree is different, each chair will have subtle variations in the timber, with unique figuring and character. Unlike mass produced furniture, where everything is uniform, these handmade chairs work beautifully as a set, whilst retaining their individuality.

Loose Fit was started in 2018 by James Torble b.1990 England, with the aim of creating elegant furniture, designed and made to last a lifetime. James has a background in fine art, having studied at Central Saint Martins College, London, before building himself a houseboat and developing a passion for furniture and design in the process. James is a maker fascinated by his craft and the possibilities of wooden furniture. His designs are perfect for now, lovingly joined by hand in English timbers. MATERIALS
Each piece of furniture is made by hand, using locally sourced British hardwoods, such as ‘unwanted trees’ that councils have cut down.
For bespoke projects recycled surface materials can be used in the design, such as formica and marmoleum.
Finishing is offered in natural oils or soap washes, which contain less harmful chemicals than commercial varnishes and polishes (some furniture polishes contain formaldehyde!). DESIGN
At the heart of the design is the desire to make pared back, classic pieces of furniture. Keeping the skills of traditional joinery alive with modern designs and well considered details.
The Chair comes in three different timbers - Choose from London Plane with it's unique grain pattern, English Oak for a classic rich hardwood or English Ash for a light contemporary style.
